4 HIDDEN GEMS IN FUERTEVENTURA:

FUERTEVENTURA OFF THE BEATEN PATH

Discover the beauty of Fuerteventura with its golden beaches, blue waters, and adventure.

Fuerteventura is often overlooked by travelers, making it an island that hasn't lost its uniqueness; from the beaches of El Cotillo to the wild and windy Cofete, this island offers an authentic experience.

Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands, may seem like a relatively small island, but during my third visit here, I was able to discover some "hidden" gems that allowed me to experience another façade of this island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

If you, like me, are always in search of a less-beaten path and want to get away from the usual tourist attractions, allow me to share the "hidden" (but not so secret) places of this island:

POZO NEGRO:

Located a few kilometers ahead of Caleta de Fuste, it is very different from the other beaches on the island, it is a small fishing village, very quiet with its white and blue houses, which remotely resemble some small coastal village in Greece. It is a beach of volcanic origin, where there are very few people and tourists and where you can enjoy a relaxing swim in its calm waters with little wind.

PUERTITO DE LOS MOLINOS:

It was one of my favorite places on the island and a real discovery, it felt like I had ended up in one of those Irish fishing villages, with its dark stone caves on which the waves break. Once there, you can reach one of the cliffs where you can admire the ocean and the landscape from above. It is a small fishing village, with very few people, and where the silence is broken only by the sound of the wind and ocean. The beach of Puertito de los Molinos is small but it is the ideal place to relax and walk among the fishermen's houses where it seems that time has stopped.

PLAYA DEL VIEJIO REYES:

Located in the municipality of Pajara, in the south of the island of Fuerteventura, it is one, if not my favorite beach on the island. I love a dramatic landscape and with its high cliffs overlooking the ocean and the powerful waves, Playa del Viejo Reyes doesn't miss to deliver, making it one of the most beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura.

Its wild landscape makes it a must-see and perfect spot for those who want to practice surfing. It is also possible to go horseback trekking, for an unmissable experience and for the more adventurous one a jeep tour of the Jandia peninsula.

PLAYA TIERRA DORADA:

Approaching towards the south of the island in the municipality of Pajara, located in the area of Costa Calma, the beaches and the color of the ocean acquire a completely different hue from the other beaches on the island and unique to this area of Fuerteventura. Most of the beaches here look like something out of a postcard and have little to envy to a beach in the Maldives, with its crystal clear waters and golden beaches that contrast with the blinding blue of the ocean. I admit that it was not among my favorites and it is not that different from Playa Sotavento, but the scenery is very beautiful and definitely worth visiting.
