krabi south thailand

After several weeks spent traveling through Thailand exploring bustling cities and trekking in the jungle it is time to relax on the paradisiacal beaches of Thailand, if there is one thing that Thailand is certainly known for is its beaches of fine white sand and its unmistakable cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. The south of Thailand, in the Andaman Sea, is full of more or less known islands, if you are looking for fun or absolute relaxation; I opted for the latter. If you are looking for more touristy places, discos, entertainment and lots of people, this article is not for you, but if you are looking for relax, paradisiacal beaches and a piece of Thailand still not completely contaminated by tourism, this is the right place.

This is why my choice fell on Klong Muang Beach in the Krabi province, but do not make my same mistake, the south, especially the islands are not very connected and the price of taxis is much more expensive so if you do not have a car or a motorbike it will be very difficult to move around, not that this has so limited me; in fact I was able to spend my days on the beach in true Robinson Crusoe style.

I left Chiang Mai by plane, once landed in Krabi I took one of the many collective minivans that you can find at the airport, to be taken to the accommodation where I spent the next 2 weeks, in the Loy Chalet hotel, a small oasis in the jungle just 10 minutes walk from the beach. Among all the hotels I have stayed up until now, this was the second most beautiful. Each accommodation consists of a private bungalow facing a swimming pool and with an outdoor bath to enjoy a moment of relax in nature, you can click here for the link.

Klong Muang Beach is truly a piece of peace and quiet, located not far from the most known Ao Nang. Fortunately, this jewel is not yet extremely well known, but over the years it has become more and more known. Klong Muang Beach is not far from Krabi, where, I recommend visiting the Night Market, with street food, not among the healthiest eaten in Thailand, live music, souvenirs, and many stalls to walk around. Klong Muang Beach is the ideal place to relax and forget about the course of time, barefoot and with the salt in your hair. It is not difficult to find your own private corner on this piece of beach and enjoy a nice swim in its surprisingly warm waters.

It is difficult to get bored of the landscape, because due to the tide, its landscape changes constantly throughout the day, and why not relax, then, in one of the many bars and restaurants on the sea, such as the Andalay Cafè and then enjoy the spectacle of the sunset with the profile of the islands and cliffs in the background.

In the afternoon the beach gets packed with families for a walk or a picnic.

Klong Muang Beach is a predominantly fishing village with a high percentage of Muslims, as in much of southern Thailand, here even the locals are more relaxed and even friendlier, it is not at all difficult to make friends with locals, here.

Another thing to do while you are in Klong Muang Beach is a visit to the Tuesday and Sunday afternoon market, it is a small market with great street food and fresh fruit, frequented only by locals.

Departing from Klong Muang Beach, there are also several activities and excursions such as Phi Phi islands and more….
